Partner w/ Google: $6M in Water Reuse & Recharge Funding!

Google is calling on Los Angeles County agencies, water districts, and nonprofits to submit bold, shovel-ready water projects through its Water Efficiency and Quality: Infrastructure Projects RFI—a groundbreaking opportunity to co-fund sustainable water infrastructure in key U.S. watersheds, including Southern California. This RFI is part of Google’s global commitment to replenish more water than it consumes by 2030.  Review Example Projects (PDF) 

Key Details 

  • Funding Per Project: $350,000 – $6 million 
  • Eligible Entities: Water agencies, cities, tribes, nonprofits, conservation & flood control districts 

Eligible Project Types 

  • Stormwater capture, recharge, and treatment 
  • Groundwater replenishment and aquifer recharge 
  • Treated wastewater reuse and recycling 
  • Efficiency retrofits that reduce finished water loss 
  • Ecosystem restoration tied to water quality improvements 

Projects selected in Round 1 will be invited to submit a full proposal (RFP) by October 31, 2025. This is a rare opportunity to scale climate-resilient water systems with support from one of the world’s leading tech innovators. Let’s make L.A.   • Permit approvals sped up; coastal delays reduced. 
  • New building codes frozen through 2031 (with limited exceptions). 
  • New tools were created to reinvest affordable housing equity and fund climate-friendly infill projects.

Now Open: $135M in Wildfire Prevention Grants from CAL FIRE

Funded by Prop 4 & California Climate Investments 

CAL FIRE is offering up to $135 million in funding through its FY 2025–2026 Wildfire Prevention Grants Program—supporting shovel-ready projects that protect wildfire-prone communities across California, including Los Angeles County.  

Key Dates 

  • Applications Due: August 6, 2025, by 3:00 PM PST 
  • Funding Range: Up to $950,000 per award recommended 
  • Eligible Entities: Cities, counties, fire protection districts, tribes, nonprofits, and JPAs 

Eligible Projects Include: 

  • Hazardous fuels reduction (e.g., vegetation clearance, fuel breaks, tree thinning) 
  • Wildfire prevention planning  
  • Public education and community outreach
