LA County is taking center stage in USDOT’s BUILD program
Los Angeles County’s transportation network is set for a major boost thanks to a slate of competitive federal investments under the BUILD (formerly RAISE) program and related funding streams.
California was awarded 25 projects for a total of $258 million in transportation upgrades. Below are some highlights from LA County:
- City of Los Angeles – Broadway Sur: nearly $25M to transform corridor safety, transit access, and neighborhood vitality.
- LA Metro – Norwalk Mobility Hub: over $23M for a next-generation transfer hub.
- City of Long Beach – Safer Willow Street: $22M in corridor safety and accessibility upgrades.
- Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (Watts): $26.64M to knit together safe, equitable pedestrian networks.
- Destination Crenshaw – Reclaiming Crenshaw: $1.4M for first/last-mile safety and mobility improvements in South LA.
These projects together represent a strategic, countywide push to remove transportation barriers, strengthen multimodal safety, and spark equitable economic growth.
