Extreme Heat and Community Resilience Program – Round 2

The Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation has released Round 2 of the Extreme Heat and Community Resilience Program, with $27.5 million available for heat infrastructure projects that protect California communities from extreme heat.

This opportunity is especially relevant for Los Angeles County projects focused on shade, cooling infrastructure, heat-resilient public spaces, community resilience, and other strategies that reduce the health and safety impacts of extreme heat in vulnerable neighborhoods.

Round 2 includes two project types: Early Infrastructure and Advanced Infrastructure. Prospective applicants should review the final guidelines and join one of the upcoming webinars for project examples, application guidance, and Q&A.

Upcoming webinars include Project Example Sessions on June 17, June 22, and June 23, followed by Kickoff Sessions on June 25 and June 30, 2026.

WaterSMART Cooperative Watershed Management Program

The Bureau of Reclamation’s WaterSMART Cooperative Watershed Management Program is now accepting applications to support watershed group development, restoration planning, and watershed management project planning and design.

The program helps local watershed partners work together to address complex water issues, improve water reliability, reduce conflict, and stretch limited water supplies. This is a strong fit for Los Angeles County watershed partnerships focused on collaborative planning, stakeholder outreach, watershed restoration plans, and early design work for future water management projects.

Approximately $25 million is available, with awards ranging from $50,000 to $300,000. No match is required.

There will be four application rounds, with deadlines on October 7, 2026, February 24, 2027, September 1, 2027, and February 15, 2028.

FY 2026 INFRA Grant Program

The U.S. Department of Transportation is making $626.7 million available through the FY 2026 Nationally Significant Multimodal Freight and Highway Projects (INFRA) Grant Program to support major transportation infrastructure projects that improve freight movement, safety, and regional mobility.

This opportunity is especially relevant for Los Angeles County projects focused on freight corridors, highway and bridge improvements, port and intermodal access, highway-rail grade crossings, marine highway connections, and truck parking needs that support goods movement and reduce congestion.

Funding is split into two tracks: Track 1 includes $426.7 million for surface transportation projects of national or regional significance, and Track 2 includes $200 million to expand commercial motor vehicle parking.
