Senator Alex Padilla announced that 51 California projects have received over $152 million through the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program. These funds, part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, aim to enhance roadway safety statewide, targeting pedestrian, cyclist, and commuter safety through infrastructural improvements. The grants will support various initiatives including high-visibility crosswalks, protected bike lanes, and comprehensive traffic calming measures across different California communities.

$15 Million for Equitable EV Infrastructure in Los Angeles County

Metro, Los Angeles County, and the City of Los Angeles have secured $15 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Program to supercharge the region’s EV infrastructure. The “Charging Up: Bringing Equitable Charging to Los Angeles County” project will install 18 DC Fast Chargers and 1,263 Level 2 chargers at 15 community locations, including park-and-ride hubs, public library parking lots, and 1,000 curbside light poles. This initiative targets underserved and Justice40 communities, driving forward equity and sustainability while generating around 3,000 high-quality jobs for installation and maintenance. Los Angeles County is charging ahead toward a greener, more connected future.

The U.S. Department of Transportation has launched the Low Carbon Transportation Materials Grants program with $800 million in funding, part of President Biden’s historic Inflation Reduction Act. $140 Million to Seal Orphaned Wells and Protect Our Environment in California

The Department of Interior announced the availability of $775 million to clean up orphaned oil and gas wells. California is receiving over $140 million in formula funds, part of which will directly benefit LA County, addressing legacy pollution, curbing methane leaks, and protecting critical water resources.
