Join Los Angeles in Tackling Extreme Heat with Collaborative Heat Monitoring Grants

The Center for Collaborative Heat Monitoring is inviting applications for its groundbreaking initiative to address the growing challenge of extreme heat. Los Angeles organizations and individuals passionate about climate resilience now can join a nationwide effort focused on innovative heat monitoring and equitable solutions for impacted communities.

This initiative empowers participants to develop community-driven projects that monitor heat exposure, build localized data, and implement interventions tailored to reduce the impacts of extreme heat. With Los Angeles experiencing increasingly frequent and severe heat events, this program is a vital resource for those looking to drive change and make a lasting impact on public health and urban resilience.

LA Secures $14.5M in Federal Support for Congestion Relief Initiatives

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has awarded significant funding through the Congestion Relief Program under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), and Los Angeles is a key beneficiary. This project will implement account based financial systems in the form of mobility wallets and will distribute financial incentives that reward travelers for choosing carpooling and nonhighway travel modes during peak periods of congestion.

Funding will empower the City of Los Angeles and surrounding regions to implement forward-thinking solutions aimed at alleviating traffic gridlock.  With congestion in Los Angeles consistently ranking among the worst in the nation, these investments represent a critical step forward in addressing the city’s transportation challenges while reducing environmental impact.

Fueling Los Angeles’ Clean Future: Hydrogen Infrastructure Expansion

The California Energy Commission’s GFO-24-601 initiative aims to expand hydrogen refueling infrastructure, accelerating zero-emission vehicle adoption across the state. For Los Angeles, this means cleaner air, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and improved access to hydrogen-powered vehicles, especially in underserved communities.

By enhancing its hydrogen network, Los Angeles can solidify its role as a leader in sustainable transportation, fostering innovation, creating jobs, and supporting equitable access to clean mobility. This program offers local stakeholders a chance to drive transformative changes and help shape the city’s clean energy future.

Applications for funding are now open—join the movement to make Los Angeles a model for hydrogen-powered mobility!
