Let’s Reconnect Communities

States, counties, cities, tribal governments, and nonprofits can now apply for Reconnecting Communities Pilot (RCP) Program Grants. The RCP program will fund projects that reconnect communities by removing, retrofitting, or mitigating infrastructure facilities that have created mobility and economic barriers. $195 million is available in FY 22 for planning or capital construction grants. Applications are due Thursday, October 13, 2022.

Thriving Communities Initiative

The DOT is establishing the Thriving Communities Initiative. The purpose of the initiative is to provide technical assistance and resources for communities.

The DOT Navigator

The DOT launched the DOT Navigator, a new online portal that serves as a one-stop-shop for resources available across the department.

Interested in Providing Assistance?

This fall the DOT and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will be issuing Notices of Funding Opportunities for organizations interested in providing technical and capacity building assistance. It is expected that states, local governments, nonprofits, and philanthropic entities will be eligible. Learn more.

Railroad Crossing Elimination Program

The DOT also announced the draft Notice of Funding Opportunity for the Railroad Crossing Elimination Program. States, local governments, a public port authority, metropolitan planning organizations, and tribal governments are eligible to apply for highway-rail or pathway-rail grade crossing improvement projects that improve safety and mobility of both people and goods.
