LA Scores $96 Million for Broadband Expansion!
Los Angeles County just secured $96.5 million in grants from the Last Mile Federal Funding Account to bring high-speed internet to over 5,300 unserved locations, benefiting more than 142,000 residents. These funds will improve access to reliable, affordable broadband across LA, with key projects enhancing connectivity in the Crenshaw District, Southeast LA County, and Huntington Park. This investment is part of a statewide effort to close the digital divide and provide vital internet access for education, telehealth, and more.
EPA Launches $965 Million Clean School Bus Rebate Program!
The EPA is offering $965 million in rebates to support the procurement of zero-emission school buses and related infrastructure. Schools can apply for up to $325,000 per bus, with a maximum of 50 buses per application. The program also funds workforce development, including driver training. Applications are due by January 9, 2025, and this initiative is part of the EPA’s ongoing efforts to reduce emissions, improve air quality, and support the clean energy transition in schools.

EPA Announces $300 Million in Climate Action Grants for Tribes!
The EPA has awarded $300 million in grants through the CPRG Tribes and Territories Competition to fund projects reducing greenhouse gas emissions. 34 applicants, including 3 Southern California Tribal nations, 33 total Tribal nations, and Saipan, will focus on sectors like transportation, power, and buildings. Among the winners, the Fort Independence Indian Community secured $1.36 million to extend Los Angeles Department of Water and Power services, replacing diesel generators at the Grinding Rock Aggregates quarry with renewable electric power. Together, these projects aim to cut 7 million metric tons of CO2 by 2050—equivalent to the emissions of 1.4 million homes in one year. This initiative, part of a broader $4.3 billion effort, accelerates the clean energy transition and advances environmental justice.
