$48 Million Boost for LA’s Energy Resilience!

The LADWP is receiving $48 million in federal funding, matched by local investment, through the Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships (GRIP) program. This project will integrate solar, energy storage, EVs, and smart thermostats to support LA’s power grid during extreme weather events. By enrolling 7,500 smart thermostats and expanding distributed energy resources, LADWP aims to boost grid reliability, reduce outages, and speed up restoration times. In partnership with local unions and community groups, the program will ensure high-quality, sustainable jobs while fostering innovation in energy management.

$112.5 Million to Advance U.S. Wave Energy!

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO) has announced a game-changing funding opportunity to accelerate the development and commercialization of wave energy technologies. With up to $112.5 million available over five years, this initiative aims to test and validate wave energy systems at distributed, community, and utility scales.

Key focus areas include:

  • Distributed Applications: Powering blue economy operations.
  • Community Applications: Supporting coastal and island stakeholders.
  • Utility Applications: Demonstrating reliable, grid-connected energy solutions.
