Transforming Your Community!

Apply for the Reconnecting Communities Pilot Grant

Get ready to reshape your community with the Reconnecting Communities Grant Pilot Program! This initiative offers $607 million in grants for capital construction and community planning projects aimed at improving access to essential services, fostering equitable development, and addressing local transportation challenges. Eligible projects include everything from building new infrastructure to innovative community planning efforts. Don’t miss this chance to reduce environmental harm and enhance connectivity in disadvantaged areas.

This opportunity builds on recent successes, such as the nearly $10 million grant awarded for the I-710 Humphreys Avenue Crossing Project in East Los Angeles. Announced during U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg’s visit, this project exemplifies the transformative potential of these grants. The new pedestrian and bicycling overcrossing will provide Humphreys Avenue Elementary students with a safe, car-free pathway to school and reconnect neighborhoods divided by the I-710 freeway. It’s a powerful example of how these grants can rectify historical inequities, reduce pollution, and offer new transportation alternatives that improve the quality of life for residents.

Applications are open until September 30, 2024.
